Weak Passwords on Email Accounts
Having strong passwords on email addresses is vital to the security of your hosting account.
I have been receiving customer support requests from both clients on my server and on other service provider server i.e. Godaddy, Bluehost et al. The email addresses on their accounts are being compromised due to weak passwords. As a result we have been working to clean these accounts up and ensure this is no longer a problem. One of the steps we are taking is to reset passwords to something more secure.
There is a sliding scale for password strength. 0 – 100 with 0 being weak sauce and 100 being Fort Knox. Here’s an example of both a weak password and a strong password.
You can see this Service Announcement with all the deets and how to improve your password over here – http://emajen.com/whmcs/announcements.php?id=21
